FAQ
We know trusting someone with your pet is a big decision. Below are answers to some of the most common questions to help you feel confident, informed, and at ease.
What is included in a full grooming appointment?
A full grooming appointment is more than just a haircut; it's a calm, personalized experience designed to keep your pet safe and comfortable, and cared for. Each visit includes a bath, blow dry, brush out, haircut or trim tailored to your pet, nail trim, ear cleaning, and finishing touches like a bow or bandana. With two groomers present, your pet is never alone, allowing us to move at their pace and provide extra support for puppies, seniors, anxious pets, and those who need a little more reassurance.
What are the benefits of a two-groomer approach?
With two groomers present, your pet is never left alone and always has hands-on, attentive care. This allows us to work more safely and efficiently while keeping the experience calm and controlled. Having an extra set of skilled hands is especially beneficial for puppies, senior pets, and those who are anxious and wiggly, as we're able to support, stabilize, and provide reassurance throughout the entire process. It also means less waiting, no rotating between multiple dogs, and a more personalized, one-on-one experience from start to finish.
What if my pet is nervous or anxious?
We specialize in working with nervous and anxious pets. Our calm, kennel-free environment and one-on-one approach help reduce stress by keeping your pet out of a busy, noisy setting. With two groomers present, your pet is never left alone and always has gentle, hands-on support throughout the entire process. We move at your pet's pace, use positive patient handling, and adjust as needed to keep them comfortable. Our goal is to build trust and create a safe, positive grooming experience every time.
What if my dog is matted?
Matting can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, painful for dogs, as it pulls on the skin and can trap moisture or debris. When matting is severe, brushing it out is not always safe or humane, and shaving may be the best option to provide immediate relief. We always prioritize your pet's comfort and well-being first and will walk you through the safest approach for their coat. Our goal is to remove matting in the most gentle, stress-free way possible and help you maintain a healthier coat moving forward.
Can you groom puppies or first-time clients?
YES! Having the same groomer throughout a pet's life is such a blessing. The pet knows what to expect, and they get comfortable with the groomers, making it an all-around much better experience for the pet and the groomers. We love getting puppies in our shop to start them off on the right paw. Sometimes we have to start small, just a bath and nails, sometimes just nails, once in a while we can do a full groom, but don't think super model groom, think toddler haircut. It takes time to get it right.
How long does a grooming appointment take?
There isn't an exact timeframe, as grooming can range anywhere from about 1 hour to 3+ hours, depending on your pet. On average, most small to medium dogs take around 1.5 hours, while larger dogs may take closer to 2 hours or more. Timing depends on your pet's coat type, condition, and cooperation, as well as how long it takes to dry the coat fully, since all haircutting must be done on completely dry hair. With our one-on-one, kennel-free approach and two groomers present, your pet is cared for continuously without unnecessary waiting, allowing us to work efficiently while still prioritizing their comfort and safety.
Do you use kennels or cages?
No, we are a completely kennel- and cage-free environment. We groom one pet or pet family at a time, so your pet is never crated or waiting in a busy salon. When they're not on the grooming table, they're free to relax in our grooming space and feel at home. We do ask that pets be picked up promptly once finished to ensure a smooth transition for the next appointment.
Do you offer in-home grooming options?
Yes, we offer in-home grooming as a convenient, personalized experience for both you and your pet. We bring all of our professional equipment and set up in your home, allowing your pet to be groomed in a familiar, stress-free environment. All that's needed is access to a sink, tub, or suitable washing area. This service is ideal for pets who are anxious, elderly, or uncomfortable traveling, as well as for busy households who prefer a more private, streamlined experience. From setup to clean-up, we handle everything so your pet receives the same level of care without ever leaving the home. If you're unsure whether your space will work, we're happy to discuss setup ahead of time. *There is an additional fee for this service.
Can you accommodate bonded pairs or siblings?
Yes, we love working with bonded pairs and siblings. When appropriate, we're able to groom them alongside each other, which can help reduce stress and provide comfort during the process. Our two-groomer approach allows us to safely and comfortably accommodate pets while still giving each pet the attention they need. It's always special to see how pets can support one another, and we do our best to create a calm, positive experience for both.
When should you
bring your pet?
Your pet will always give little signs when it's time. Here's what to look for.
Overgrown hair around the eyes, face, or body that may affect comfort or visability
Feet losing their shape, or hair growing over the paws, making movement less comfortable
Nails tapping on the floor, which can lead to pressure and discomfort over time
Tangling or matting that requires gentle, attentive handling to safely remove
Excess shedding or a heavy coat that needs a thorough, hands-on de-shed
Noticeable odor or a coat that feels greasy, signaling it's time for a fresh start
Build-up around the eyes or ears that needs careful, one-on-one attention
Sensitivity to brushing or handling is often a sign that your pet needs a slower, more personalized grooming approach
Trouble staying cool or comfortable, especially in warmer weather
Coat looking dull or lacking its usual softness and shine
Debris or dirt gets trapped in the coat after normal activity
Changes in behavior like licking, scratching, or mild irritation
